A Winter's Verse
Thank you to Well-Read Books in Whitehorse for hosting A Winter's Verse, our open mic seasonal celebration in December 2011, featuring original poems
by Whitehorse poets as well as favourites from Robert Frost.

Kerosene launched
Yukon poet Jamella Hagen, an exciting new voice
in northern poetry, launched her first poetry
collection, Kerosene, in Whitehorse, Yukon in
October 2011, an event supported by the
Whitehorse Poetry Society, Yukon College and
publisher Nightwood Editions.

“I think Jamella’s writing will strike a chord with
a lot of northerners and readers further afield,"
says Here is Where we Disembark author Clea
Roberts. "Not only is Jamella’s writing accessible,
it’s also compelling and authentic and fresh.”
